Significant intra- and interregional differentiation has become a consequence of the market reforms and the subsequent spatial transformations in Russia. In this regard, a flexible approach to the development of areas of state support for the development of industries and territories, differentiated depending on the selected factors and goals, has become objectively necessary. The article briefly presents the results of typologization (carried out in the program STATISTICA 10.0) of municipal districts of the Vologda region by the level of development of one of the priority sectors of public production - agriculture. The study allowed us to identify three distinct groups of districts (which confirms the existence of internal heterogeneity in the region) and suggest differentiated areas of support for the industry, which in turn can have a positive impact on the socio-economic and spatial development of territories. The significance of the study lies in the possibility of using the results by regional authorities and local governments to improve regional policies and measures supporting the development of agriculture, and research staff, heads of business entities and other stakeholders in integrated assessment of agriculture areas.
